KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – For the second match in a row, neither Oregon Tech nor its opponent could find the net as the Hustlin' Owls battled The Master's to a 0-0 draw on Saturday at the OIT Soccer Field.
Oregon Tech (1-0-4) extended a program-record streak with its fourth consecutive tie. The Owls' defense, meanwhile, has now held its opponents scoreless for 189 consecutive minutes dating back to their Aug. 30 match at Embry-Riddle.
Goalie
Noah Harwood made three saves while registering his third shutout of the season as The Master's (1-2-2) outshot Tech 11-6.
The Master's used speed and pace to control the offense over the first 30 minutes of the first half. Adiel Kaduya gave the Mustangs their best look in the 34th minute, with his shot at the right side of the 18-yard box saved by Harwood.
Layne Worrell had his own close look for the Owls turned away in the 40th minute, with his shot at the top of the penalty area blocked.
As the physicality increased in the second half, so did the Hustlin' Owls' looks at the net.
Raul Arzola had the half's first shot on goal in the 46th minute, while
Andrew George saw his 54th-minute shot turned away by Mustangs' goalie Franco Barba.
The Master's controlled the ball for much of the waning minutes of the match, but the Tech defense succeeded in limiting the Mustangs to just one shot over the final 21 minutes.
Both teams committed 12 fouls apiece, with six cautions doled out between the two sides. The Master's held the 11-2 advantage on corner kicks.
OIT will close its non-conference on the road, playing at Pacific Union on Friday before opening Cascade Conference play at Evergreen State on Friday, Sept. 18.
