Tech and Arizona Christian Play to Rain Soaked 0-0 Draw

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Playing in a rare early September rainstorm, Oregon Tech and Arizona Christian combined for 11 shots on frame, but keepers Noah Harwood and Dustin Rogers stopped every chance, as the two sides played to a scoreless draw at the OIT Soccer Field.

The Hustlin' Owls (1-0-3) played to their third straight draw despite holding a 15-13 edge in shots and earning eight corner kick chances. Rogers made six saves to keep Tech off the board, while Harwood stopped five shots to earn his second shutout of the season.

OIT had multiple chances to break through – including a fifth-minute free kick by Kevin Alvarenga from just outside the area that was stopped by Rogers. Layne Worrell was stopped in a 1-v-1 breakaway in the 38th minute, while a low drive from Cash Cota in the 41st minute was saved by a diving Rogers.

The Firestorm (1-1-2) had a golden opportunity in the 21st-minute, as Raul Arande ripped a shot that was deflected by a diving Harwood, with Logan Johnson missing a 12-yard rebound chance wide of the goal.

ACU had a flurry in the 61st-minute as Noah Arter lined a low shot blocked by Harwood, with Arter collecting the rebound and missing a return attempt well above the crossbar.

In the 68th-minute, Tech earned four consecutive corner kicks, but were able to generate just one shot, a header by Raul Arzola, that was deflected wide.

The Owls return to the field on Saturday, hosting The Master's at 2:30 p.m.
