OPPONENT PREVIEW – LIFE PACIFIC (1-1-1) | FIRST MEETING: Tech heads to Redding this weekend for a pair of matches, beginning Friday with the first-ever date against Life Pacific. The Warriors dropped a 2-0 decision to Southern Oregon in their last game, while posting a win over Westcliff and a draw vs. Stanton. LPU finished last season 9-8-1, but lost their top two scorers who combined for 20 goals. Returners Stevie Spencer (1 goal) and Nancy Hinojosa (1 goal) are back, helped by freshmen Kayley Buchanan (1 goal, 1 assist), Mayllery Rodriguez (2 assists) and keeper Natalie Retama (1.00 GAA).
 
OPPONENT PREVIEW – SIMPSON (1-0-2) | 28TH MEETING – OIT LEADS SERIES 25-0-2 | LAST MET IN 2025 (OIT 2, SU 0): Saturday, the Owls put a long unbeaten and long scoreless streak on the line against a Simpson side coming off a 6-6-3 season in 2025. OIT has never lost to the Redhawks, thought the two teams played to 0-0 draws in 2022 and 2023, with SU looking to score their first goal against the Owls since 2014. The Redding side returns three key players from last season's club – Nadia Santiago (1 goal), Claire Brown and Cassandra Grabiola – with the trio combining for 11 goals and two assists. SU will have a new keeper, as Jenna Sosa (0.67 GAA) has allowed just two goals in three games.
 
CALIFORNIA DREAMIN': The road trip for the Lady Owls heads to California, nothing new for OIT women's soccer. Since the program debuted in 2000, Tech has made the trip to their southern neighbors in 24 of 27 seasons – failing to travel to the Golden State in 2011, 2021 and last season. It marks the first of two trips to California this year, as the Owls head to the Napa Valley next week to meet Pacific Union.
 
AGAINST THE GSAC: Friday's match vs. Life Pacific marks the third-straight opponent from the Great Southwest Athletic Conference (formerly Golden State Athletic Conference), with LPU the eighth of 10 current GSAC teams the Lady Owls have played (OIT hasn't faced the two newest GSAC sides, Soka or La Sierra). Tech is 8-7-1 all-time against current GSAC members, with the team a combined 19-15-1 all-time against all GSAC teams – as 12 teams have left the conference over the past 15 seasons.
 
TALE OF TWO MATCHES: The Lady Owls started the season with a 1-1 mark in Arizona, a 2-0 win at Benedictine Mesa and a 4-0 loss at No. 3-ranked Embry-Riddle. OIT peppered the net against BenU, putting up a staggering 39 shot attempts, before finding the net twice inside the final 15 minutes of play. Two days later, the experience of ERAU, the reigning national semifinalist, was evident, as both All-America players for the Eagles posted a brace, with the Arizona team finishing with a 26-4 shot edge.
 
MOST SHOTS: The 39 shot attempts on Friday marked the most by the Lady Owls in 10 seasons and the No. 8 mark on the OIT single-game list. Tech last had 39-or-more shot attempts in 2016, posting 46 shots in a road win at Simpson.
 
BRADLEY SCORES IN DEBUT: Transfer Ramera Bradley made the most of her OIT debut, tallying the game winning goal in the 2-0 win at BenU. The junior ran onto a long ball played by Shelby Geiger, made a 20-yard run and slotted home the counter into the left corner of the net.
 
A PK: Tech's second goal at BenU came on a penalty kick, as senior Makahl Chambers converted from the spot. It marked the first penalty kick goal for the Owls since Oct. 2 of last season at Carroll.
 
FULL 90S: During the Arizona trip, three players never came off the field in the two matches, playing all 180 minutes of action. Keeper Elle Hillar, along with defenders Alyssa Hudman and Olivia Mendoza, were mainstays on the pitch.
 
AROUND THE CCC: Last week, preseason favorite College of Idaho opened their season with three games in California, topping Soka, The Master's and Hope International, while Eastern Oregon claimed road wins at St. Martin's and Pacific. Carroll traveled to Florida, dropping a 2-0 decision to No. 2 Keiser and played St. Thomas to a draw, while Corban split games vs. D-III teams. This week, key matchups include EOU traveling to Cumberlands and Tennessee Wesleyan, Southern Oregon heading to Embry-Riddle and Benedictine Mesa, while Carroll and Rocky Mountain play host to Arizona Christian and OUAZ.
 
LADY OWLS PICKED SIXTH: After ending last season in a tie for fifth in the final Cascade Conference standings, the Lady Owls were picked sixth overall in the CCC Preseason Coaches Poll, released earlier in the month. OIT received 105 voter points from the 13 coaches – trailing College of Idaho (164), Eastern Oregon (150), Southern Oregon (140), Rocky Mountain (118) and Carroll (112) – all who will play Tech in the Basin this season.
 
MOORE THIRD ON WINS LIST: In his fourth season with the Lady Owls, Tom Moore moved into third place on the OIT all-time wins list with Friday's win at Benedictine Mesa. Moore is 33-18-8 in his fourth season, chasing down Bryan Mueller (66 wins) and Brandon Porter (43 wins) on the list.
 
NEXT WEEK: The Lady Owls close out the non-conference portion of their schedule, making a return trip to California for a Friday afternoon match-up in Angwin against Pacific Union.
