KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Peyton Jacaway tapped home a goal in the 29th minute, with Eastern Oregon making the first half chance hold up, as the Mountaineers toppled Oregon Tech, 1-0, in a key Cascade Conference women's soccer match-up.
A physical battle that featured 26 fouls hinged on a set piece, as Gracie Rainsberry played a corner into the middle of the box, with Kadyn Martinez heading a ball towards goal, where Jacaway knocked in the goal to end the Mountaineers (9-5-1, 5-4 CCC) 3-match losing skid.
The Lady Owls (4-8-1, 1-6-1) were unlucky for the second-straight day, as a third-minute
Ryane Mattox header missed just high and
Rhacelyn Respicio hit a drive in the 43rd minute that was saved by EOU keeper Samantha Groesbeck – the lone OIT shot on frame.
Despite trailing 13-9 in shots and 8-2 in corners, Tech kept battling.
Ramera Bradley got space in the 75th minute and hit a low shot that just missed wide of the target, as did an
Alejandra Salcedo try inside the final five minutes. With 40 seconds left, the Owls earned a corner kick and a last second shot by
Naaliyah Robinson missed to the left of the post.
OIT heads on the road next weekend for dates Friday at Corban and Saturday at Bushnell.
