KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech defended the 3-time defending Cascade Conference champions for over 89 minutes, but No. 22-ranked College of Idaho scored off a counter-attack with 21 seconds remaining to top the Lady Owls, 1-0.
Claire Busse slotted home a 12-yard shot into a wide open goal to salvage three points for the Yotes (10-3, 6-2 CCC).
OIT (4-7-1, 1-5-1) locked down a potent C of I attack, limiting the visitors to 12 shots on the day and finished with a 4-3 edge in shots on frame.
C of I had two quality chances in the first half, as Rylee Russell missed a 27th minute sitter right of the target, while off a 37th minute corner kick, Morgan Nicoletti lined an unmarked header over the crossbar.
Both teams had chances early in the second half, as Russell had a 20 yard strike bang off the crossbar, while the Lady Owls
Ryane Mattox was stopped on a strong header by C of I keeper Molly McCabe, with McCabe making a tough save on a
Ramera Bradley bender.
Inside the final minute, the Owls pushed numbers forward, as defender
Naaliyah Robinson made a 60-yard run, but C of I was able to control the possession and converted on a counter-attack. A long ball to Russell was tracked down on the end line, with a cross deflected to Abbi Roubidoux. Roubidoux made a move to elude Tech keeper
Elle Hillar and touched a pass to Busse for the open attempt to win the match.
Mattox had four shot attempts and Bradley had two for the Owls, who will host Eastern Oregon on Saturday at 12 p.m. to close out the weekend.Â
