KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Jared Sucher made 5-of-6 3-pointers, part of a career-high 24-point night, as Oregon Tech made a season-high 15 3-point field goals in a 116-69 victory over Walla Walla at Danny Miles Court.
The Hustlin' Owls (16-6, 11-3 CCC) sit in a 4-way tie for first place in the Cascade Conference standings with three weeks left in the regular season. The victory clinched Tech their 32nd-straight postseason appearance.
Jordan Jackson scored seven early points for the winless Wolves (0-20, 0-14), giving WWU a 10-6 lead.
Dakota Reber answered for Tech, starting a 28-3 run with a pair of lay-ups, a transition dunk and a 3-pointer, with
Jackson Cooper closing the rally with 7-straight points, giving the hosts a 34-13 lead.
OIT had a 46-33 edge with three minutes left in the period, but Sucher started a 16-0 run to close the frame with a 4-point play and
Mason Bierbrauer ended the half with a long 3-pointer.
The lead methodically grew in the second half – allowing all 13 players in uniform to see action.
Reber finished with 20 points – his tenth game this season with 20-or-more points – with
Gylan Payne posting 11 points and eight rebounds. Cooper,
Grant Tull and
Sean Chris Tresvant scored nine, with
James Kefgen adding eight points and both Bierbrauer and
Owen Nathan scoring seven. The Owls made 55% of their field goals and scored 22 points off 17 WWU turnovers.
Jackson led all scorers with a game-high 33 points and Reese Snellman scored 15.
Tech returns to action next weekend with road games at Corban and Bushnell.
