Second Half Rally Helps Tech Stop Evergreen, 88-83

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Oregon Tech erased a 16-point deficit by connecting on 76% of their second half field goals, rallying to outlast Evergreen State, 88-83, at Constantino Recreation Center.

Dakota Reber scored 26 points with 10 rebounds and Jackson Cooper added 20 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, helping the No. 21-ranked Owls (15-5, 10-2 CCC) win their 20th-straight game against TESC.

The upstart Geoducks (3-11, 3-9), who had split their last six games, got 20 first half points from Tony Frohlich-Fair, blitzing Tech over the first 12 minutes. TESC forced 14 first half turnovers and took a 34-18 lead on a Kenzell Massey 3-pointer with seven minutes left in the period.

OIT answered with a 9-0 run, as Grant Tull scored twice and Reber hit a triple, helping the visitors get within 45-35 at the half. The Owls found their rhythm midway through the second half, as a 15-0 run over a three-minute stretch, keyed by 3's from Owen Nathan, Reber and Tull, flipped the script, giving Tech a 71-61 lead – with the visitors overcoming a late TESC run.

Reber was 11-of-14 from the field, with Cooper finishing 7-of-9 from the floor. Nathan tallied 11 points, six rebounds and six assists, Gylan Payne had 11 and Jared Sucher scored 10, as Tech finished the night making 63% of their field goals.

Frohlich-Fair scored 33 – his second-straight 30-point game – in the loss.

Tech returns home Friday, hosting LC State in the annual K-12 Field Trip Game, with tip-off at 2 p.m.
