KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Seniors
Miranda Valle and
Solei Elletson scored second half goals, as Oregon Tech rallied for a key 3-2 victory against regional rival Hope International at the OIT Soccer Field.
The Lady Owls (3-1-1) remained unbeaten at home in 2025, capitalizing on a couple bounces to top the California side for the second consecutive season.
An even match throughout, the Royals (3-2) broke through 20 minutes into the contest, as Emma Valenzuela played a cross to the left side of the box, finding Ana Pacheco, who ripped a shot into the top left corner of the net for the early lead.
Tech answered just five minutes later, as
Jaylee Curran served an innocent ball from the end line into the box, taking a big hop over HIU keeper Victoria Ruiz and finding
Sydney Soskis in the middle of the 6-yard box – tapping home the tying goal.
Just before the break, the Royals took advantage of a poor clearance to regain the lead. Isabella Ochoa claimed a loose ball just inside the box and touched a pass to an unmarked Brandi Valdez – who hit a shot just past the outstretched hand of Tech keeper
Emma Beavin into the right side to the goal.
OIT countered early in the second half to even the match. Following a scrum off a corner kick, the Owls cleared the ball to midfield – with Valle splitting a pair of defenders to win the ball, racing 40-yards and beat reserve keeper Brittany Hazleton 1-on-1 to the right corner of the net.
The Owls withstood three corner kick chances by HIU, before scoring the game-winner. Curran made a short run down the right side to the top of the 18, playing a cross through traffic to the waiting Elletson, who hammered home the sitter from 15 yards out for the lead.
HIU finished with an 8-7 edge in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks – with both sides committing seven fouls.
Tech has the weekend off, preparing for a three-match week – starting with a Monday home date vs. Simpson.
