Â
OPPONENT PREVIEW – WESTCLIFF: A 5-match homestand begins Thursday with the first-ever meeting between OIT and Westcliff University of Irvine, Calif. The Warriors (2-0) had a banner 2024 season, finishing 12-1-3 – allowing just four goals during the campaign – losing to College of Idaho in the second-round of the NAIA Championships. Westcliff opened the season with a 1-0 victory over No. 25-ranked The Master's and followed with a 9-0 drubbing of Justice College, combining for a 44-14 shot advantage. Cal Pac Player of the Year, Jysabella Tolentino (15 goals in 2024) leads the side with three goals in 2025, with Amylette Lopez (2 goals, 2 assists), Isabella Covarrubias (2 goals 1 assist) and Stephanie Serrato (4 assists) key pieces of the offense. Keeper Cayli Cokley (0.00 GAA) was the Cal Pac Defensive Player of the Year in 2024 – finishing with a 0.21 goals against average.
Â
OPPONENT PREVIEW – HOPE INTERNATIONAL: A rare Monday morning match-up will feature Tech against a Hope International side that finished 2024 with a 14-4-2 record and earned a trip to the NAIA Championships. The Royals (2-0) have earned shutout wins over Stanton and Providence, thanks to the play of forwards Jacinda Rivera (3 goals, 1 assist) and Emma Valenzuela (3 goals). Two All-GSAC performers are back – midfielder Jordan Galvin (3 assists), who posted nine goals in 2024, along with defender Larissa Perez. Keepers Brittany Hazelton and Victoria Ruiz have split time in the first two matches – facing just eight shots total. The two sides met for the first time last season, with the Owls earning a 3-2 victory in Fullerton, Calif.
Â
TALE OF TWO MATCHES: Tech's trip to Arizona saw two matches against Great Southwest Athletic Conference teams go in completely different directions. Thursday, the Lady Owls dominated Park Gilbert, using a 16-8 edge in total shots – including two goals in the opening 10 minutes – to roll to a 5-1 victory. Two days later, OIT played on a grass surface for the first time since last October and struggled connecting passes, as No. 17-ranked Embry-Riddle used a stifling defense and a 22-shot attack to top the Owls, 3-0.
Â
FIVE-GOAL GAMES: The Owls had a big night against Park Gilbert, scoring a season-high five goals – the 43rd time in program history OIT has posted 5-or-more goals in a game. It was the first time the Lady Owls have scored 5-or-more goals in a road game since an 11-0 victory at Multnomah during the 2018 season.
Â
CONSECUTIVE GAMES WITH FOUR GOALS: Thursday's win over Park Gilbert marked the 14th time the Lady Owls have scored 4-or-more goals in consecutive games (with the club scoring 4-or-more goals in 3-straight games on four occasions). It marked the first time since the 2021 season (wins over Bushnell and Multnomah) that Tech achieved the feat.
Â
A NO-SHOT ANOMALY: A stellar defensive effort by Embry-Riddle not only kept OIT off the scoreboard, but the Lady Owls did not attempt a shot or corner kick in the contest. Since 2008, Tech had previously been held without a shot attempt once – a 2014 loss to Concordia, while the team was limited to one shot on three occasions (losses to UC Merced in 2015, to Concordia in 2012 and Jessup in 2009). On the flip side, OIT last held an opponent without a shot attempt in 2020 – a 3-0 win over Warner Pacific.
Â
RETURNERS IN THE SCORING ACT: The win at Park Gilbert featured four different veteran OIT players scoring a goal, with the fifth goal tallied as an own goal. Senior
Kaelin Ness had a goal and an assist – her third career goal and first career helper, while fellow senior
Solei Elletson converted her third career goal. A third senior,
Miranda Valle, converted a goal in the second half – her second career goal and first since 2023, while
Caitlyn Price capped the scoring with the fifth goal in her collegiate career.
Â
TWO KEEPERS: Tech used a pair of goal keepers during the trip to Arizona – as
Elle Hillar earned the victory at Park Gilbert – making one save in the first half of the contest, while
Emma Beavin made her OIT debut in the second half of the game and played the entire Embry-Riddle game, making three key saves to keep the Owls in the contest. It marked the first time since the 2022 season that the Lady Owls have started multiple goalkeepers in the same season (
Sydni Nakamura started every game during the 2023 and 2024 seasons).
Â
THE FULL 90: Through three matches, no OIT field player has played the full 90 minutes in each of the contests. Defender
Shelby Geiger played the full 90 in the two matches she played (against both Benedictine Mesa and Embry-Riddle), while against ERAU,
Kaylie Hashizaki did not leave the pitch. A total of 19 players have seen action in each of the three matches in 2025.
Â
SUCCESS ON THE TURF:Â During the 25 seasons of women's soccer at OIT, the Lady Owls are 114-60-18 in matches played in Klamath Falls. Since the school installed turf at the on-campus venue in 2017, Tech has been nearly unbeatable, recording a 45-6-7 mark (.836 win percentage).
AROUND THE LEAGUE: Two weeks into the season and four teams in the CCC remain undefeated – as College of Idaho earned wins over Dordt and Whitman, Eastern Oregon claiming shutout wins over Dordt and Doane, Southern Oregon claiming victories over Benedictine Mesa and Simpson, with Carroll earning road wins at OUAZ and Arizona Christian. This week, Providence finally makes their season debut, joining fellow Montana teams Carroll and Rocky Mountain on a tour of California and Arizona – leaving Walla Walla as the lone team to start their 2025 campaign. The big match-ups of the week, along with SOU and OIT hosting Westcliff and Hope International is C of I traveling to Colorado for neutral site matches vs. Science & Arts and John Brown.
Â
LADY OWLS PICKED SECOND IN CCC POLL: Despite losing seven starters and five All-CCC players to graduation, the Lady Owls were picked second in the 2025 Cascade Conference Preseason Poll. Tech earned 140 voter points from the 13 coaches – trailing only College of Idaho, who advanced to the NAIA national semifinals. Eastern Oregon, Carroll, Southern Oregon and Rocky Mountain round out the Top-6, with OIT having to face all five teams on the road this season.
Â
NEXT WEEK: The Lady Owls will have the remainder of next week off, before closing out their 5-game homestand with three games in six days – Sept. 15 vs. Simpson, Sept. 19 vs. Evergreen State and Sept. 20 vs. Northwest.
