2025 Women's Soccer Notebook (Week 4)

COMING UP: vs. Simpson, Monday, 1 p.m.; vs. Northwest, Friday, 12 p.m.; vs. Evergreen State, Saturday, 12 p.m.

GAME DAY INFORMATION: All three home matches this week will be stream live on the Owls Sports Network with Mike Safford on the call, with Live Stats available online through OIT's SIDEARM Stats Portal.

OPPONENT PREVIEW – SIMPSON: OIT ends the non-league slate with a Monday date vs. Simpson, putting a 26-match unbeaten streak against the Redhawks (1-2-1) on the line. SU has topped Warner Pacific, played Bushnell to a draw and dropped matches to Southern Oregon and Corban – with All-Cal Pac picks Chloe Tague (1 goal) and Litsey Munoz (4 goals in 2024) leading the way. New keeper Iris Van Dalfsen (1.00 GAA, .750 save%) has had a great start to the year. OIT is 12-0 all-time at home vs. SU and holds a 24-0-2 series edge.

OPPONENT PREVIEW – NORTHWEST: The Owls open the league schedule against the team they ended it in 2024, squaring off against Northwest. The Eagles (4-2) have played a competitive schedule – three Division III teams, a D-II and winning both matches vs. NAIA sides. NU lost their top four scorers to graduation, but Kiersten Hendrickson (2 goals), Megan Hurley (1 goal, 2 assists) and Sara Becerra (3 assists) lead the squad, while keeper Katie Snow (1.20 GAA, .793 save%) is a returning starter. OIT holds a 14-10-1 series edge, including a 2-1 win over the Eagles in the 2024 CCC Tournament.

OPPONENT PREVIEW: EVERGREEN STATE: The homestand ends Saturday against an Evergreen State club searching for their first goal of the season. The Geoducks (0-3) have dropped games to Saint Martin's, Pacific and Whitman, with the opponents holding a 49-19 shot advantage. Defense is the key for Evergreen, as All-CCC defender Alexandria Foley and returning starter Emma Stock anchor the back, along with keeper Anna Varela (2.00 GAA, .800 save%). OIT takes an 8-game win streak vs. TESC into the match and holds a 17-9-1 series edge.

DEFENDING THE HOME TURF: During the 25 seasons of women's soccer at OIT, the Lady Owls are 115-60-19 in matches played in Klamath Falls. Since the school installed turf at the on-campus venue in 2017, Tech has been nearly unbeatable, recording a 46-6-8 mark, including a 2-0-1 record in 2025.

DEFENSE EARNS DRAW VS. WESTCLIFF: The Lady Owls opened the homestand against a Westcliff side sitting one spot outside the NAIA Top-25 poll – and used a supreme defensive effort to earn a 0-0 draw. Tech limited the high-scoring Warriors to seven shots on the afternoon – as keepers Emma Beavin and Elle Hillar combined on the clean sheet. OIT finished the day with a 15-7 edge in total shots – including eight chances inside the final 15 minutes.

SPEAKING OF DRAWS: The 0-0 stalemate between Tech and Westcliff marked the 37th draw in program history – and the eighth-straight season the Lady Owls have had at least one match end in a tie. OIT has played 20 matches ending with a 0-0 score, nine matches ending with a score of 1-1, with eight games played to a 2-2 tie.

DEJA VU VS. HOPE INTERNATIONAL: A year ago, OIT and Hope International met in California, with the Lady Owls rallying in the second half for a pair of goals – the second with eight minutes to play – to claim a 3-2 win. Fast forward to Monday, and Tech was in the same predicament, trailing at halftime by a 2-1 margin – only to stun the Royals with two second half goals – the latter, with eight minutes left, to defeat the side receiving votes in the Top-25 poll. Jaylee Curran assisted on two goals – a first half finish from Sydney Soskis and the game-winning one-timer from Solei Elletson – while the tying goal came following a 40-yard 1-v-1 run from Miranda Valle.

SETTLING INTO ROLES: Five matches into the 2025 season and the rotation for the Lady Owls is beginning to take shape. Six players on the roster have started each match – defenders Solei Elletson, Emma Glazebrook and Kaylie Hashizaki, along with midfielders Miranda Valle, Raeah Raymondo and Chloe Cook. In all, 14 players have touched the pitch in all five contests.

CONFERENCE SCHEDULE OPENS THIS WEEK: The 7-week Cascade Conference schedule opens on Thursday, as the 13 teams vie for a chance at the postseason. The number of teams remain the same in 2025, however, Multnomah dropped athletics following the spring season and no longer is in the CCC, while Walla Walla has entered the women's soccer fray for the first time. Each team will play 12 matches, with the Top-8 teams heading to Medford for the CCC Championships – with the regular-season champ and tournament champ receiving automatic bids to the NAIA Championships.

AROUND THE LEAGUE: Seven teams head into the with just one loss in the standings – with Eastern Oregon (3-0-1) and Carroll (2-0) the lone teams without a loss. Defending champ, College of Idaho (3-1) earned a big neutral site win over No. 3 ranked John Brown, with three teams having regional success - OIT (3-1-1) posting three victories and both Southern Oregon (3-1) and Rocky Mountain (2-1) have two wins over Golden State Athletic Conference sides. Bushnell (2-1-1) rounds out the group, with all four matches vs. Division III opponents. This week, the travel partner match-up features Rocky and Carroll, with Corban and Bushnell each traveling to Providence. Eastern and C of I make the trip to Walla Walla and Warner Pacific, with Northwest and Evergreen State off to OIT and Southern.
