KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time in program history, Oregon Tech has been selected to the NAIA Baseball National Tournament, with the Hustlin' Owls earning one of 15 at-large bids to the 46-team tournament.
Tech (38-14) will head to a familiar place – Lewiston, Idaho – for a 5-team Opening Round Bracket, with the winner to advance to the Avista NAIA World Series.
The Hustlin' Owls earned the No. 4 seed in the Lewiston Bracket and will meet No. 5 seed Dickinson State of North Dakota next Monday at 11 a.m. – with the winner to meet top-seed and defending NAIA champ, Hope International that evening at 6 p.m.
The Blue Hawks (21-29) were the runners-up at the North Star Athletic Association Tournament and enter the tournament with a .275 team batting average and a 7.82 ERA. Shortstop Luis Rodriguez (.354 7 HR 30 RBI) leads the DSU attack, with Jacob Scully (7-5 4.52 ERA) the top pitcher – both second-team NSAA picks.
Wayland Baptist of Texas is the No. 2 seed in the Bracket, with host LC State the No. 3 seed.
