COMING UP: at Cascade Conference Championships (Vancouver, B.C.) – Friday vs. Lewis-Clark State, 2:30 p.m.

COMPLETE WEEKLY MEDIA NOTEBOOK

GAME DAY INFORMATION: All games at the CCC Championships will be streamed via UBC's Playsight Channel, with all OIT games having live stats through the OIT SIDEARM Stats Portal. For fans heading to Tourmaline West Stadium in Vancouver, day passes are available for $15.00 and are available for purchase through the UBC Ticket Portal.

WHAT'S AT STAKE: The winner of the CCC Tournament will earn the league's automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships. If Lewis-Clark State wins the title, the tournament runner-up will earn the bid, as LC receives an automatic berth to the NAIA Tournament as the host team.

IN THE POSTSEASON:
The Hustlin' Owls are set to make their fourth trip to the playoffs in five seasons and their 16th overall playoff appearance. The Owls made five trips to the NAIA District II Tournament (1974, 1981, 1982, 1986, 1989), three trips to the NAIA Region I Tournament (2004, 2005, 2006), four trips to the NAIA West Tournament (2009, 2010, 2013, 2017) and Cascade Conference Tournament appearances in 2021, 2023 and 2024. Tech is a combined 12-30 all-time in postseason games.

HISTORY IN CCC CHAMPIONSHIPS:
OIT has reached the league tournament semifinals on four occasions – in 1981, 2005, 2006 and 2009 – while reaching the title game in 1982, 2010 and 2023. In 1982, Tech dropped a 3-1 decision to Lewis & Clark College in a winner-take-all championship game of the District 2 tournament; in 2010, the Owls lost to UBC, 11-3, in Vancouver; while in 2023, the squad dropped a 11-7 decision to UBC in Springfield, Ore.

TECH TO OPEN VS. LC-STATE: For the third-straight season, Tech will meet Lewis-Clark State in the CCC Championships – as the two clubs split a 4-game series a month ago in Lewiston, Idaho. LC (32-14) had a chance to win the regular-season crown, but lost a winner-take-all game with UBC on Sunday. Slugger Charlie Updegrave (.378 19 HR 67 RBI) and Jack Sheward (.352 10 HR 60 RBI) pace the Warrior attack, while lefty Jaden Williamson (5-0 2.47 ERA, 86 K) and Jackson Cloud (5-1 2.79 ERA) anchor the pitching staff. OIT is 1-3 against LC in the postseason.

OTHER TOURNAMENT TEAMS: Host UBC (34-15) claimed their first outright regular-season crown since 2010, behind the offensive tandem of Jonny McGill (.411 13 HR 47 RBI) and Trent Lenihan (.339 10 HR 49 RBI), along with ace Ryan Heppner (7-1 4.33 ERA). Defending champ, Bushnell (32-18) dropped 9-of-12 to end the regular-season, but has a potent offense led by designated hitter Jordan Wilson (.293 13 HR 50 RBI). The Beacons will meet, College of Idaho (24-26), who earned the No. 5 seed behind the play of second baseman Jack Ingraham (.322 2 HR 22 RBI) and pitcher Oliver Massie (1-3 3.62 ERA).

MOST WINS EVER: OIT surpassed their all-time win total on Sunday afternoon in the 11-0 victory over Bushnell. The Owls ended the regular-season with a 36-12 mark – the first time they have sat 24 games above .500 – with the 36 victories surpassing the 34 wins from last year and the 33 wins from the 2009 and 2023 seasons.

RANKINGS: For the first time this season, the Owls earned votes in the NAIA Top-25 Poll – claiming six voter points by the 19 conference raters. Tech currently sits No. 7 in the West ARC rating, No. 11 in the Interactive Strength Rating, No. 12 in the Massey Power Index and No. 43 in the NAIA BoChip rating.

STREAKING: The Owls extended their school-record win streak to 14 games with a Game 1, 11-1 victory over Bushnell – the longest win streak in program history. Despite a loss in the 29-hour, 2-day, Game 2, OIT set the previous win streak record of 11 during the 2009 season.

SUCCESS AT HOME: Tech finished their 16-game homestand with a 15-1 record and ended the campaign by finishing 18-2 at Steen Sports Park – the most home wins in program history. Since moving their home field from Kiger Stadium to their current park in 2022, the Owls are 54-18 on their own diamond.

RECORDS GALORE: Nine single-season school records have been smashed by the 2025 Hustlin' Owls heading into the postseason – including the all-time runs scored record (464). Tech has recorded more doubles (130), triples (19), RBI (398), walks drawn (265) and hit by pitches (113), posting the most sacrifice flies (49), while well on their way to top the on-base percentage (.446) and fielding percentage (.980) marks.

OFFENSE KEEPS ROLLING: The top offense in the CCC continue to put up eye-popping numbers, as the Owls stretched a string of games scoring 8-or-more runs to 17 (including 14 games with 10-or-more runs), while recording 10-or-more hits in 20 of their last 23 games. Tech leads the CCC with a .330 batting average and 137 stolen bases, averaging a league-best 9.7 runs per game – while drawing the most walks (265) of any club.

BARRY HAS CAREER WEEKEND, EARNS WEEKLY AWARD: Shortstop Patrick Barry lived on the basepaths during the Bushnell series – with his efforts earning CCC Player of the Week honors. Barry finished 12-for-15 at the plate, adding five walks and a hit-by-pitch (a .867 on-base percentage), adding four doubles, a triple and three RBI – scoring 12 runs. The senior saw hit batting average climb to .412 – No. 3 in the CCC.

HORNER BREAKS LEAGUE RECORDS: Playing for the final time in the Basin, Tyler Horner capped his Klamath Falls career by surpassing multiple CCC all-time marks. The All-American finished 6-for-15  with two doubles and four RBI in the series – extending his on-base streak to 57 games. Horner surpassed the CCC record for RBI, picking up his 205th in Sunday's Game 2 win, with his 68 doubles also topping the league. The catcher is four hits shy of becoming the first-ever CCC player to post 300 hits in a career.

MORE WITH THE BATS: Julien Jones closed out the weekend 5-for-11 at the plate, with a triple, homer and five RBI – while setting a new single-season record for hit-by-pitches (29). Keanu Mizuta capped a stellar month of April going 4-for-9 in the series, recording two doubles, a homer, with seven RBI. Matthew Ortiz pushed his school record runs scored record to 182, going 6-for-13 with eight runs scored and six RBI in the series, while Ka'ala Tam was 7-for-16 with two doubles and seven RBI in the series win.

CHAPPLE DOMINANT, NAMED PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Tech rode the arm of Bronson Chapple for the school-record 35th win of the season, as the senior handcuffed Bushnell – earning CCC Pitcher of the Week honors. Chapple tossed six-plus innings of 2-hit shutout ball, striking out six, logging his third win of the season – dropping his ERA to 3.04.

WILLIAMS STAYS PERFECT: Game 1 starter Tim Williams continued his dominant 2025 season – holding Bushnell to three hits in six shutout innings – becoming the first OIT pitcher to start a season 7-0, improving his all-time record to 9-0. The senior saw his ERA fall to 3.14, with opposing hitters posting a .213 batting average.
