KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Ellie Sander scored 15 of her game-high 24 points in a fourth quarter barrage, helping Lewis-Clark State top Oregon Tech, 63-47, in the semifinals of the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, at Danny Miles Court.
The No. 25-ranked Warriors (25-5) will meet top-seed Southern Oregon in Tuesday's title game, while No. 23-ranked OIT will await their NAIA Tournament opponent when the pairings are released on Thursday.
The Lady Owls (23-7) erased a 14-point first quarter deficit and pulled even at 33-33 early in third quarter and trailed just 43-40 seven minutes left in the game following a
Tatum Schmerbach lay-up. However, Sander took over scored 13 points – including three 3-pointers – in a game-changing 18-2 run to put the game out of reach.
LC started the night quickly, making eight of their first 11 field goals, as all five starters scored in a 22-8 run. Tech answered – holding the Warriors to one field goal over an 8-minute stretch, getting two baskets each from
Jozie Ramos and Schmerbach, with a
Brooke Anderson lay-up cutting the margin to 24-20. The two teams played even until the LC State fourth quarter run.
Schmerbach scored 15 points, Ramos had 14 points and eight rebounds, with
Alexis Elquist posting six points and 12 rebounds in the loss for OIT. The Lady Owls made just 31-percent of their field goals and committed 19 turnovers.
Mataya Green scored 12 points with nine rebounds for LC, who converted 4-of-5 3-point attempts in the fourth quarter.
Tech will host a Watch Party on Thursday in the CEET Auditorium at 4 p.m. – as the 64-team field for the NAIA Championships will be unveiled.
