KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Kaelin Ness made the most of Senior Day, slotting home the opening goal of an Oregon Tech 3-0 victory over Corban at the OIT Soccer Field.
Playing in a rainstorm with winds above 40 miles per hour, the Lady Owls (8-5-3, 4-4-2 CCC) earned a much-needed league victory – with Tech clinching a playoff spot if Carroll defeats Warner Pacific tomorrow.
Heading into the wind in the opening half, OIT got on the board just 11 minutes in – as
Raeah Raymondo touched a soft through-ball to the charging Ness, touching home the counter for the 1-0 lead.
The Warriors (5-10, 2-8) mustered just four shots on the day – but made the most of the chances. Owls keeper
Emma Beavin punched out a shot from Emma Franklin in the 35th minute, followed by Corban getting back-to-back corner kicks, with Beavin turning away Delaney Fiedler off the second attempt.
With 15 minutes remaining, a foul outside the OIT box gave Fiedler a 25-yard free kick, but the attempt missed high.
Tech finally got an insurance goal in the 80th minute, as
Jaylee Curran played a corner to the back post, with
Naaliyah Robinson knocking home the winner. Four minutes later, the Owls made it 3-0, as
Maegan Cooper followed an
Alejandra Salcedo blocked shot with a drive into the right corner of the net.
OIT finished with a 16-4 edge in shots and an 11-3 lead in corners. Beavin recorded her third shutout of the season in the victory.
The Lady Owls close out the regular-season next weekend at Walla Walla and Warner Pacific.
