Lady Owls Earn Key Road Win at Walla Walla

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Claire Cowan tallied a goal and an assist, while the Oregon Tech defense did not allow a shot attempt for the first time since the 2021 COVID spring season, as the Lady Owls earned a 4-0 victory over Walla Walla University.

OIT (9-5-3, 5-4-2 CCC) had a 24-0 edge in shot attempts, including 12 on frame and two off the crossbar – while attempting seven corner kicks. It was the first time since an April 2021 win over Warner Pacific that the Lady Owls did not allow a shot attempt.

Tech peppered the goal early on, as Ryane Mattox and Miranda Valle each hit the crossbar with attempts in the first 15 minutes. The Owls continued the pressure, finally finding the net in the 35th minute, as Cowan played a ball from the right side of the box to the top of the 18, finding Raeah Raymondo, who hammered a shot into the top left corner of the net for the 1-0 advantage.

Four minutes later, Jaylee Curran doubled the lead, as she took a long pass down the right side, made one move and buried a 25-yard missile off the crossbar and into the net.

Cowan pushed the margin to 3-0 early in the second half, as Chloe Cook played a through-ball to Mattox, who eluded the keeper and touched a pass to Cowan for the tap-in.

Kaelin Ness capped the scoring in the 82nd minute, as Kaia Fetch played a cross to the top of the 6-yard-box, with Ness heading home the winner.

The Wolves (0-11, 0-11), playing the first season in the Cascade Conference, got eight saves from Allanah Rodriguez-Facio.

OIT closes out the regular-season on Sunday, traveling to Warner Pacific for a 10:30 a.m. match-up.
