KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Lucas Kay-Wong slotted home the lone goal of the match inside the final 15 minutes, lifting Oregon Tech to a key 1-0 victory over Bushnell in Cascade Conference men's soccer action.
The Owls (6-4-4, 4-4-1 CCC) pulled ahead of the Beacons in the CCC table with three matches remaining.
Playing on an extremely windy afternoon, much of the match was played between the 18's, as Bushnell (9-4-2, 3-4-2) had an 8-7 edge in shots and Tech recording four of the five corner kick chances.
The visitors had two quality second half opportunities to break through – as a Javier Gutierrez breakaway run in the 63rd minute was tracked down from behind by Tech defender
Bridger Meyer – stopping the would-be shot attempt. The Beacons narrowly missed in the 74th minute, as a Walter Reustle 40-yard free kick banged off the middle of the cross bar.
Enter Kay-Wong, who provided instant offense off the bench. In the 76th minute, a pass to the right side of the area found the second-year Owl, with his shot stymied by Beacons keeper William Haberfield. Two minutes later, the visitors weren't as lucky – as a 2-on-1 chance saw
Merrick Tambio play a low cross to the back post, with Kay-Wong slotting home the game-winner.
The Owls improve to 4-0-1 at home in 2025.
OIT closes out their home schedule tomorrow, hosting Corban at 2:30 p.m. – with the six senior student-athletes on the squad set to be honored between the women's and men's game.
