Solid Final Round Leads Hustlin' Owls to 2nd Place Finish

CALDWELL, Idaho – All five players in Oregon Tech's scoring group finished in the Top-20, helping the Hustlin' Owls place second overall at the College of Idaho Invitational at TimberStone Golf Course.

OIT (297-294-291 – 882) battled tough scoring conditions in the morning to post their top team score of the tournament, finishing Round 3 with a 3-over-par score – ending the event 29 strokes behind team champ, British Columbia (289-277-287 – 853). The Owls outlasted Lewis-Clark State (294-298-295 – 887) for the runner-up spot, with both teams well ahead of host and fourth-place C of I (306-300-304 – 910).

Both Kade Bracken (73-75-72 – 220) and Cayson VanBeekum (76-74-70 – 220) had quality days – Bracken carding an even-par 72 and VanBeekum posting a 2-under-par 70 – each finishing in a tie for eighth-place.

Issey Tanimura (74-71-76 – 221) earned a Top-10 finish by ending the 54-hole event in tenth-place, with Silas Guzlas (74-75-74 – 223) in 14th and Jack Tieman (76-74-75 – 225) in 19th.

"It was nice to see the guys pull away from LC State," said OIT head coach, Dave Myers. "Cayson did a nice job coming back to shoot under-par today and both Kade and Issey were solid."

Leighton Wright (71-68-69 – 208) earned medalist honors at 8-under-par, as UBC swept the top-five positions on the leaderboard.

The Owls return to action next Monday and Tuesday at the Lewis-Clark State Fall Invitational.
