OPPONENT PREVIEW – SOUTHERN OREGON: Tech looks to even the rivalry match-up for the season on Tuesday, as Southern Oregon makes their annual trip to the Basin. SOU (8-11, 5-7 CCC) has had an up-and-down season, including quality wins over College of Idaho and Walla Walla – along with a 4-set victory over Tech in September. The Raiders average 12.3 kills per set and hit at a 1.90 clip, adding 1.8 blocks per set. The SOU attack is led by 6-rotation players Andressa Ribeiro Soares (3.09 k/s, 2.92 d/s) and Friley Curtiss (2.66 k/s, 2.72 d/s, 0.63 b/s), along with opposite Maya Watters (2.85 k/s) and middle Tessa Zimmerman (1.46 k/s, 0.86 b/s). Setters Annie Hite (4.86 a/s, 1.37 d/s) and Mia Jaeger (4.94 a/s, 1.03 d/s) share duties, with Tais Vega (2.72 d/s, 27 aces) the libero. SOU holds a 57-8 series edge, with OIT looking to snap a 6-match losing streak to their rival.
Â
OPPONENT PREVIEW – WARNER PACIFIC: The four-match homestand ends Friday night, as Warner Pacific looks to snap a 20-match losing streak dating back to 2024. The Knights (0-13, 0-12) have struggled mightily, winning just two sets on the season – recording a .024 attack percentage and allowing three aces per set. Three players – JahNay Jardine (1.76 k/s, 0.83 d/s), Tayah-Anne Toa (1.52 k/s) and Summer Martin (1.23 k/s, 0.33 b/s) – each average over a kill per set, with setter Audrey Histad (2.90 a/s, 1.20 d/s) and libero Angel Camagay (3.00 d/s) the top passers. OIT holds a 43-9 series edge and has not lost to WPU in Klamath Falls since 2015.
Â
MIDWEEK / WEEKEND GAMES: This week, Tech will play their lone home midweek match of the season – as Southern Oregon makes the trip over the hill. In 2025, the travel partner match-up is paired with Warner Pacific – the lone team in the league without a travel partner (as Multnomah, WP's former travel partner, dropped athletics after the 2024-25 season).
Â
TOUGH WEEKEND AT HOME: For the second time this season, the Lady Owls dropped both ends of a weekend series, falling to LC State in four sets and to Walla Walla in three sets. Against LC – the OIT attack was solid, averaging 13.5 kills per set, but one night later, WWU held the hosts to 5.7 kills a set. Between the two matches, the Owls combined for 44 attack errors.
Â
SET BY SET: Tech heads into the week with a 9-10 overall record, with varied success in three, four and five-set matches. In three-set matches, the Lady Owls are 7-5, in four-set matches, OIT is 0-4, while in five-set matches, the club is 2-2.
Â
CRAZY SET VS. LC: The 25-23 Set 1 win for the Lady Owls against LC State was one for the ages – as the two teams combined for 21 ties in the frame. The set was tied at every point – from 3-3 to 23-23 – before Tech got a side out and claimed the win off an LC hitting error.
Â
SENIOR STUFF: The four seniors on the OIT squad each had solid performances in the weekend matches – with
Willow Jacobson,
Savanna Sterck,
Abigail Sorensen and
Lex Boccia having just four regular-season home matches left in their careers. Jacobson had 10 kills against LC State, while leading Tech with five kills and six blocks vs. Walla Walla. Sterck led all players with 19 kills in Friday's match with LC, with Boccia adding eight kills and six digs. Sorensen extended her double-digit digs streak to 11-in-a-row, recording 18 vs. LC and 12 vs. WWU, moving within 76 digs of 1,000 for her career.
