Hustlin' Owls Open California Trip With Shutout Win

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Playing under the lights on a scoring evening, Oregon Tech struck for goals in each half, riding a strong defensive effort to a 2-0 victory over The Master's at Mustang Field.

Keeper Ryan Solis made five saves on 10 total shots, helping the Hustlin' Owls (3-0) equal their second-best start in program history.

"We stayed strong defensively and did our job," said OIT head coach Sean McManamon. "We played for the badge for a full 90 minutes and I am beyond proud of the boys. We took our chances well and made the most of them."

Tech jumped out quickly on the Mustangs (0-2) – as in the tenth minute, Wolfgang Alvardo collected a loose ball in the midfield and touched a pass to defender Bridger Meyer, who roped a 35-yard strike past TMU keeper Julian Graham.

The Owls added an insurance goal early in the second half off a set piece. Kevin Rodriguez played a long corner to the back post – with Cash Cota heading a ball to the front of the goal mouth, finding the foot of Ben Bradshaw, touching home the counter for a 2-0 lead.

Statistically, the match was even, as Tech and TMU each took 10 shots, with the Mustangs holding a slight 6-5 edge in corners.

The 2024 team joins the 2009 and 2021 squads with 3-0 starts – with the 2021 side beginning 6-0.

OIT closes out the trip on Saturday with a match-up at Hope International.
