Hustlin' Owls Win Streak Snapped at Hope International

FULLERTON, Calif. – Two goals in the opening five minutes of the second half broke open a 1-goal game, as Hope International topped Oregon Tech, 3-0, at Great West Park.

HIU (2-1) held a 17-10 edge in total shots in the physical contest, with the hosts recording a 5-1 edge in corners – ending Tech's perfect start to 2024.

The Royals took a 1-0 lead to the locker room, as Vincent Lopez touched home a rebound of a Cristian Carranza shot that clanged off the crossbar in the 29th minute.

The hosts doubled the lead two minutes into the back half, as a Jorge Perez strike hit the crossbar, but Diego Alvarado slotted home the rebound. Just three minutes later, Aldo Ramirez scored off a Emi Amaro pass to make it 3-0.

OIT (3-1) had a flurry of chances in the first 10 minutes of the game – but did not score – with their best chance in the second half coming off a drive from Andrew Pasang that glanced off the crossbar.

The Owls close out the non-conference season next week with the second-leg of the Sky Cup series at Simpson.
