EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon Tech used a dominant defensive performance, adding a pair of second half goals to run their win streak to seven, blanking Bushnell University, 2-0, at Civic Park.
The Lady Owls (8-1-1, 4-0 CCC) recorded their fifth-straight shutout, extending an opponent scoreless streak to 482 minutes. OIT held the Beacons (2-7, 0-3) without a shot attempt until the final 10 minutes of the match, finishing the day with a commanding 26-1 lead in the stat category.
Tech had a 10-0 edge in shots in the first half, but BU keeper Lexi Bates made six of her match-high 11 stops to turn the Owls away.
In the second half, the Lady Owls put away a pair of goals in the first 15 minutes to take control. In the 50th minute,
Brianna Lewis took a 25-yard shot from the left side that was knocked down by Bates, but the rebound found the foot of
Kayla Ness at the back post for her third game-winning goal of 2024.
Ten minutes later, Tech scored in an unconventional way, as
Shalynai Naputi played a corner kick from the left side, bending a low liner to the side of the 6-yard-box – with the shot skipping through traffic, past Bates, and into the net.
For the Owls, it marks the fifth time the program has posted a win streak of seven games – and first since 2021 and the fourth time Tech has recorded 5-or-more shutouts in a row.
OIT returns home next weekend for a pair of showdowns – Friday vs. No. 12-ranked College of Idaho and Saturday vs. Eastern Oregon.
