KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – College of Idaho blitzed the net over the first 10 minutes of the second half, as the No. 12-ranked Coyotes broke a scoreless tie and topped Oregon Tech, 3-0, at a windy OIT Soccer Field.
C of I (6-0-2, 4-0 CCC) got consecutive goals from Natasja Davis after the break – ending Tech's 528-minute streak without allowing a goal – as the visitors remained unbeaten on the year.
Both teams had chances in the opening half – as a
Kiana Jacobson 20-yard free kick was stopped by Yotes keeper Alivia Brenchley, a Madison Little shot off a corner kick was cleared off the end line by the Owls
Kara Morris, with Tech's
Jaylee Curran roping a 20-yard shot late in the half off the crossbar.
The second half flurry started 30 seconds into the period, as Larissa Wegner played a cross from the left side to the middle of the 6-yard box – with Davis flicking home the eventual game-winner. Five minutes later, Shaelyn Olsen played a corner kick to the back post, finding Davis, who chested home the counter. Eden Makaafi capped the run in the 55th minute, driving home a cross from Wegner.
The Lady Owls (8-2-1, 4-1) had their 7-match win streak snapped, as C of I finished with a 17-8 edge in shots and Brenchley making three saves in the shutout.
OIT closes out the weekend tomorrow at Noon, hosting Eastern Oregon.
