EUGENE, Ore. – An Oregon Tech rally inside the final 10 minutes came up just short, as the Hustlin' Owls dropped a 2-1 men's soccer decision to Bushnell University at Civic Park.
The loss for OIT (4-5, 1-3 CCC) was their fifth in their last six games – as the Owls were unable to capitalize on a 15-4 edge in shots and a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Trailing 2-0, Tech nearly got on the board in the 51st minute – but
Kevin Rodriguez clanged a 25-yard free kick from the middle of the field off the left post. In the 84th minute, a foul in the box on a free kick opportunity gave
Andrew Pasang a chance from the spot – with the senior tying the school record for penalty kick goals with his conversion.
With three minutes left, a skirmish just outside the box resulted in the Owls earning a set piece – but a header by
Cooper Hunt was stopped by Beacons (5-2-1, 1-2) keeper William Haberfield, his sixth and final save of the night.
BU struck early, as Danny Rojas scored in the seventh minute off a Javier Gutierrez through ball, while early in the second half, Zander Harer collected a loose ball in the area and found the net.
Tech returns home next weekend for key match-ups against College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon.
