KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Aleksen Thayer recorded a career-high 10 kills, leading an Oregon Tech attack that held a 43-26 edge in kills, as the Lady Owls topped Evergreen State 25-17, 25-12, 25-17 at Danny Miles Court.
OIT (9-7, 2-6) hit at a .306 clip and took advantage of nine service aces to pick up their second-straight league win.
The visiting Geoducks (3-9, 3-5) used a 3-0 run in Set 1, keyed by consecutive Yasmin Dilworth kills, to take a 13-12 edge, but the hosts responded in a big way. Kills from
Molly Grace and Thayer, along with an ace from
Kaley Whalen propelled Tech to a 9-1 run that put the set away.
Set 2 was all Lady Owls, with Thayer pounding down 3-straight kills to cap a 12-4 start, with the lead ballooning to 20-6 on back-to-back service aces from
Lucy Boyd.
In the clincher, freshman middle
Tiana Barrett had six kills in seven swings, with
Abigail Sorensen ending the match with three-straight aces.
Savanna Sterck had eight kills, Grace recorded seven kills and 12 digs, with Boyd ending the night with five kills, 33 assists and six digs.
TESC was paced by Ashley Walker Campbell's seven kills and Marin Collins added six.
OIT closes out the homestand tomorrow with a 4 p.m. match-up vs. Northwest.
