SALEM, Ore. –
Kiana Jacobson converted a penalty kick in the 54th minute, providing the lone goal of the match, as Oregon Tech ran their win streak to six with a 1-0 victory at Corban University.
Jacobson becomes the first player in program history to score a goal in 6-straight matches, improving to 3-for-3 in attempts from the spot.
The critical moment had the Lady Owls (7-1-1, 3-0 CCC) on the attack, with
Kayla Ness being clipped from behind by a Corban defender in the middle of the area, with Tech earning the penalty. Jacobson lined her attempt into the corner of the net – with the Owls allowing just one shot attempt the rest of the day.
The Warriors (4-3-1, 1-1) had two quality chances in the first half – but OIT keeper
Sydni Nakamura made a pair of crucial saves. Maya Alston took a 25-yard drive in the seventh minute, with Nakamura punching the attempt wide, while in the 28th minute, Alston had a 1-v-1 chance, but Nakamura made a sliding save to turn away the opportunity.
Tech finished the match with a 15-6 edge in total shots and recorded nine of the 11 corner kick chances.
OIT closes out the road swing tomorrow with a 12 p.m. match-up vs. Bushnell at Civic Park in Eugene.
