Â
OPPONENT PREVIEW – CORBAN: The first road trip of the league schedule starts in Salem and a match-up with Corban – one of three teams OIT has played every season since 2000. The Warriors (4-2-1, 1-0) topped Bushnell, 3-1, in their CCC opener, adding solid wins over Whitworth and Pacific, but dropping matches to George Fox and Whitman. Corban holds a 11-9 edge in goals scored, but have surrendered a goal in 5-straight matches. Two All-CCC selections return – forward Alysia Alvarado (5 goals, 1 assist) and midfielder Fatima Jimenez (1 assist), with freshman forward Maya Alston (5 goals) having a great start to 2024. Sophomore keeper Ava Hayes (1.15 GAA, .720 save pct.) anchors the defense. Corban holds a 18-13-5 series lead, including a 9-7-3 mark at home – with Tech searching for their first win over their rivals since 2021.
Â
OPPONENT PREVIEW – BUSHNELL: Day 2 in the Valley has Tech facing a Bushnell squad that scored six goals in a win over Providence Christian, but have tallied just three total goals in their six remaining contests. The Beacons (2-5, 0-1) are closing out a 6-match homestand (having last played a road game on Aug. 20), with the team heading into the weekend allowing more shots (77-51) than their opponents, but put their chances on frame (63-percent). A senior dominated line-up leads the attack, as transfers Lanaeya Botelho (2 goals, 1 assist) and Stephanie Llanos (2 goals, 1 assist) are joined by Ruby Daniels (2 goals) and Emily Puita (1 goal, 2 assists). All-CCC keeper Lexi Bates (2.40 GAA, .684 save pct) has shared time this season with Ana Augusto (1.43 GAA, .615 save pct.). It is the 23rd meeting, with OIT holding a 19-3-1 series edge – but Bushnell snapped a 7-match losing streak to Tech last season with a 1-0 win in Klamath Falls.
Â
TECH JUST OUTSIDE THE TOP-25: The early season success has propelled the Lady Owls back on the national scene, as Tech received 35 points in the latest NAIA Top-25 Poll – the fourth team listed in the "others receiving votes" category. OIT last cracked the Top-25 in 2022 – opening the year at No. 4, before dropping out of the poll during the first regular-season tabulation.
Â
LADY OWLS ON A ROLL: A dominant weekend at home propelled the Lady Owls to the top of the Cascade Conference table, rolling to a 6-0 victory over Warner Pacific and a 3-0 decision over Multnomah – extending Tech's win streak to five. It is the seventh win streak of 5-or-more games in program history – as the 2007 team won five straight, the 2018 team won 6-in-a-row, the 2009 squad strung seven wins in a row, the 2019 and 2020 teams each recorded an 8-game win streak, with the 2021 club setting a school record with 13-straight wins.
Â
SCORING FRENZY: Scoring early and often has been key for Tech, as the Lady Owls have posted multiple first half goals in 5-straight matches, including four first half scores in the win over Warner Pacific – with the six goals scored in the victory the most by OIT since a 2021 win vs. Bushnell. The Owls head into the weekend having scored 21 goals – more than entire total from 2022 (19) and 2023 (17).
Â
GETTING DEFENSIVE: While the OIT offense has been impressive, a dominant defensive effort has aided the win streak – as the Lady Owls take a 302-minute shutout streak to the Willamette Valley. Both
Carly Moss and
Kara Morris anchored the defensive third, playing all 180 minutes in the victories – limiting the two opponents to a combined four total shots and one shot on frame. Tech allows just six shots per game on the year and holds a commanding 135-50 shot edge.
Â
JACOBSON TIES RECORD STREAK: Leading scorer,
Kiana Jacobson, has been instrumental in the early season success for the Lady Owls – ranking third in the CCC in goals scored (6). The senior has posted a goal in 5-straight games (dating back her game-winner at Hope International) – equaling the school record scoring streak set by Mehana Ortiz during the 2021 season. Jacobson has surpassed her goal total from 2023 (5) and moved into the Top-20 in program history for goals scored.
Â
LEWIS IN A HELPING MOOD: A year after leading the Lady Owls in points,
Brianna Lewis has turned to a helping role – recording three assists in the weekend matches – improving her league-leading total to six. The senior is the 14th player in program history to log 6-or-more assists in a year, with her season total ranking No. 9 in the NAIA.
Â
MORE ON THE OFFENSE: Four players have tallied multiple goals on the year, with each of them scoring at least one goal over the weekend.
Raeah Raymondo picked up a brace in Friday's win over WPU, upping her season tally to three, with
Caitlyn Price scoring her fourth goal of 2024 with a first half strike against Multnomah.
Caneel Corpuz recorded her second goal of the year in the first half against Warner, while
Kayla Ness struck first vs. Multnomah, posting her second game-winning goal of the year.
Â
SUCCESS ON THE TURF: During the 25 seasons of women's soccer at OIT, the Lady Owls are 110-58-18 in matches played in Klamath Falls. Since the school installed turf at the on-campus venue in 2017, Tech has been nearly unbeatable, recording a 41-4-7 mark (.856 win percentage), including a 3-0 record in 2024 – riding a 7-match unbeaten streak.
Â
AROUND THE LEAGUE: Four teams head into weekend play undefeated – including Tech and College of Idaho, with the two teams combining to outscore opponents 21-0. Other key outcomes included Providence topping Rocky Mountain, Northwest winning at Eastern Oregon and Multnomah winning at Southern Oregon. In addition, Walla Walla debuted their program (will be in the CCC in 2025), losing 10-0 at Providence and 15-0 at Carroll. Other weekend matches including Providence and Carroll traveling to Warner Pacific and Multnomah, C of I and EOU trek to Rocky, with Northwest hosting Evergreen State.
