WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Oregon Tech used a dominant performance in the blocking and service game to snap a 6-match losing streak, rolling past Walla Walla 26-24, 25-17, 25-8 at Walla Walla Community College.
The Lady Owls (8-7, 1-6 CCC) held a commanding 9-1 edge in total blocks and a 7-1 edge in the ace column to remain unbeaten all-time vs. the Wolves.
Tech led the majority of Set 1, but the Wolves (6-4, 5-3) fought off three set points to pull even at 24-24. The Owls answered with back-to-back kills from
Molly Grace and
Kate Hicks to claim the set win.
Set 2 and Set 3 were all OIT, as the Owls used runs of 5-0 and 7-1 to pull away in Set 2, while Tech dominated Set 3, jumping to a 10-3 lead and were never threatened.
Grace had 11 kills, 11 digs and five blocks, with
Savanna Sterck adding nine.
Tiana Barrett recorded a career-high seven kills and three blocks, with
Lucy Boyd recording 27 assists, five digs and three blocks.
OIT returns home next weekend to host Evergreen State on Friday and Northwest on Saturday.
