LC State Tops Hustlin' Owls, 10-6, in Series Opener

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Lewis-Clark State strung together seven 2-out hits, part of a 5-run sixth inning, as the No. 8-ranked Warriors rallied to take Game 1 of a 4-game series at Oregon Tech, winning 10-6 at Steen Sports Park.

The win for the Warriors (18-7, 8-1 CCC) extended a win streak to six, while OIT saw their second 7-game win streak of 2024 snapped.

Following a morning snowstorm that forced the series schedule to be altered, both teams battled a 25 mile-per-hour wind blowing out to left field – combining for four home runs on the day.

The Hustlin' Owls (21-12, 7-2) broke a 2-2 tie with a 4-run fifth inning rally. Dane Bradshaw scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch and Kyle Norton added an RBI single. Two batters later, Julien Jones doubled into the left field corner, plating two to give the hosts a 6-2 lead.

LC answered with two outs in the sixth – getting 7-straight hits – including a game-tying 2-run double from Leo Rivera and a go-ahead RBI single from Carter Booth. The Warriors put the game away in the ninth on a Brandon Cabrera 2-run homer.

Jones was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI for Tech, Tyler Horner was 2-for-4 with his 11th home run of the season, Norton recorded two hits and Matthew Ortiz extended his hit streak to 15 with a fifth inning double.

Pu'ukani De Sa hit a long home run, part of a 3-hit day, for the Warriors, with Dominic Signorelli going 3-for-5 with two doubles. LC reliever Cameron Smith worked the final four inning to earn the save – allowing two hits and striking out five.

Due to the morning delay, Game 2 and Game 3 of the series will be played tomorrow, with a doubleheader set for 12 p.m. Game 4 was moved to Sunday, with first pitch of the Easter matinee at 11 a.m.
