Hustlin' Owls Complete 4-Game Road Sweep at C of I

CALDWELL, Idaho – Ka'ala Tam and Patrick Barry each posted five hits on the day, helping Oregon Tech complete a 4-game sweep of College of Idaho, claiming 6-5 and 12-6 victories at Wolfe Field.

The Hustlin' Owls (20-11, 7-1 CCC) secured their fourth-straight 20-win season – running a win streak to seven games heading into next weekend's showdown with No. 7-ranked Lewis-Clark State. It marked OIT's first-ever road sweep of C of I.

Tam broke a 1-1 tie in Game 1 with a long seventh inning 2-run home run to left, but the Yotes (9-21, 0-4) pulled even in the bottom of the inning on a Dillon Danner RBI triple and Trevor Watkins sacrifice fly.

OIT responded in the ninth, as Logan Macy broke the tie with a sacrifice fly, Barry made it 5-3 with a run scoring single and Matthew Ortiz provided a key insurance run with an RBI double.

C of I made it interesting in the ninth, as Jordan Kelly homers and Watkins added an RBI single, but Riley Cronin got a strikeout to close out his fourth win of 2024.

Isaac Hill had his best outing of the year, going six-plus strong innings, holding the Yotes to two earned runs. Barry was 3-for-4, Macy was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and Tam added two hits.

Game 2 was all Hustlin' Owls, taking a 7-0 lead after four innings. Tyler Horner blasted a 2-run homer, his tenth of the season, to open the scoring in the third, while an inning later, Ortiz doubled the lead with a 2-run single, followed by a Kyle Norton 3-run bomb.

The run parade continued – as Ty Blakely tripled in a run in the fifth to extend the lead to 8-1, while Tam and Dane Bradshaw singled home runs in the ninth to make it 12-2.

Cody Dubray was solid again on the hill, allowing one run in four innings, striking out six – with Landon Cheney earning the win with two strong innings of relief.

Tam was 3-for-5, Barry was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, with Blakely, Horner and Norton each recording 2-hit games.

The OIT-LC series is set for Friday and Saturday at Steen Sports Park – with both doubleheaders scheduled for 11 a.m.
