KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Behind 15-point nights from freshmen
Tatum Schmerbach and
Jozie Ramos, Oregon Tech clinched their 15th 20-win season in program history, cruising to an 87-56 victory over Evergreen State at Danny Miles Court.
The Lady Owls (20-3, 14-3 CCC) connected on 61-percent of their field goals – their best shooting night in over two decades – the most efficient offensive effort in a Cascade Conference game in program history.
Leading 22-20 after one quarter – OIT blitzed the Geoducks (6-15, 6-13) over the first seven minutes of the following frame. Ramos started the 17-2 run with an inside basket, followed by a steal and transition 3-pointer from
Kendall Fealey. Schmerbach, Fealey,
Alexis Elquist and
Olivia Sprague also converted in the flurry, as Tech took a 41-28 lead to the break.
TESC was within 47-35 midway through the third quarter, but a steal and bucket from
Olivia Sprague and a pair of lay-ups from Ramos keyed a 10-0 to break the game wide open.
Schmerbach added nine rebounds and five assists, with Ramos pulling down three boards – with the duo combining to make 12-of-17 field goal attempts. Elquist scored 13 points, Sprague had 10, with Fealey ending with seven points, six rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.
Jenna Glenzel led TESC with 16 points, but the Geoducks were limited to 31-percent shooting by the OIT defense, with Tech holding a commanding 46-27 rebound margin.
The Lady Owls close out the homestand tomorrow afternoon, hosting Northwest University at 3 p.m.
