KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Olivia Sprague scored a game-high 25 points, leading No. 22-ranked Oregon Tech to a 74-59 victory over Northwest University at Danny Miles Court.
The junior recorded her ninth 20-or-more point scoring game of the season, as the Lady Owls (21-3, 15-3 CCC) lowered their Magic Number to clinch a Cascade Conference Tournament quarterfinal home game to one.
Despite committing a season-high 25 turnovers, OIT made 47-percent of their field goal chances, had a 46-29 rebound edge and scored 25 points of 23 NU (5-19, 5-13) miscues.
The Lady Owls jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the opening four minutes – as Sprague started the scoring with a triple and
Kennedy Tull added a conventional 3-point play. The Eagles clamped down defensively – forcing 14 turnovers in the first half – cutting the margin to 36-30 early in the third quarter.
Tech turned the tide on the strength of a 19-4 run over an eight minute stretch – breaking the game wide open.
Jozie Ramos started the run with seven quick points and Sprague put an exclamation point on the rally with a steal and basket – giving the hosts a 55-34 fourth quarter lead.
Sprague finished the night with eight rebounds, four assists and four steals, making 10-of-14 field goal attempts. Ramos capped a big week with 16 points, while
Alexis Elquist had nine rebounds and
Elli Kent had a career-high five steals.
Kylie Lunday led NU with 13 points and seven rebounds, with Maya Duchesne scoring 11 and Grace Harder tallying 10.
OIT hits the road next weekend, traveling to Corban on Friday and Bushnell on Saturday.
