PORTLAND, Ore. – Riding a 53-percent shooting afternoon and career nights from underclassmen
Kendall Fealey and
Chelsea Ching, Oregon Tech completed a road sweep of the Portland schools with a dominating 84-48 victory at Warner Pacific.
The No. 22-ranked Lady Owls (19-2, 13-2 CCC) forced 24 turnovers in the victory, clinching a Cascade Conference Tournament berth – setting up a Top-25 match-up on Tuesday at home, hosting No. 24-ranked Southern Oregon at 5:30 p.m.
Tech used a 19-4 run spanning the first two quarters to earn separation, as 3's from freshmen
Tatum Schmerbach and Fealey, along with consecutive buckets from sophomore
Elli Kent, gave the visitors a 22-9 lead. Back-to-back rebound baskets from
Kennedy Tull and a
Gabbie Gascon 15-footer extended the margin to 33-13.
The Knights (6-14, 4-12), who lost for the tenth-straight time, cut the margin to 38-22 on an Emily Brown runner early in the third quarter, but
Olivia Sprague answered with a triple and Tull added another, part of an 11-1 run that put the game away.
Sprague led OIT with 17 points and Gascon scored 14, with Fealey making 5-of-6 field goals, part of an 11-point night. Ching played the entire fourth quarter, scoring a career-high seven.
The Owls finished with a 40-26 rebound margin, while holding WPU to 4-of-20 shooting from 3-point range.
Brown led the Knights with 13 points – their only player in double-figures.
