EUGENE, Ore. –
Gabbie Gascon flirted with a triple-double and the Oregon Tech defense held Bushnell to 27-percent shooting on the night, as the Lady Owls topped the Beacons, 62-49, inside Morse Event Center.
OIT (7-3, 3-1 CCC) used a pair of lengthy first half scoring runs to build a 19-point lead, with the margin remaining in double-digits throughout the second half.
Leading 8-6 in the first quarter, the Lady Owls got a 3-point play from
Tatum Schmerbach to spark a 12-2 surge, getting buckets from
Maddyson Tull,
Jozie Ramos and Gascon, before Schmerbach canned a triple to extend the lead to 20-8.
Tech continued the pressure, as
Kennedy Tull scored seven points in a 12-1 run – extending the lead to 34-15 with two minutes left in the half.
The Beacons (4-6, 3-1) scored the final eight points of the half, with Ayden Krupke's driving lay-up at the buzzer getting the hosts within 34-23 – as close as Bushnell would get the rest of the way.
