Gascon Flirts With Triple-Double, Lady Owls Win at Bushnell

EUGENE, Ore. – Gabbie Gascon flirted with a triple-double and the Oregon Tech defense held Bushnell to 27-percent shooting on the night, as the Lady Owls topped the Beacons, 62-49, inside Morse Event Center.

OIT (7-3, 3-1 CCC) used a pair of lengthy first half scoring runs to build a 19-point lead, with the margin remaining in double-digits throughout the second half.

Leading 8-6 in the first quarter, the Lady Owls got a 3-point play from Tatum Schmerbach to spark a 12-2 surge, getting buckets from Maddyson Tull, Jozie Ramos and Gascon, before Schmerbach canned a triple to extend the lead to 20-8.

Tech continued the pressure, as Kennedy Tull scored seven points in a 12-1 run – extending the lead to 34-15 with two minutes left in the half.

The Beacons (4-6, 3-1) scored the final eight points of the half, with Ayden Krupke's driving lay-up at the buzzer getting the hosts within 34-23 – as close as Bushnell would get the rest of the way.

Gascon controlled the game after the break, scoring 12 of her team-high 16 points – including a pair of key 3-point baskets. The junior added a career-high nine assists and had seven rebounds – her fourth-straight game with 7-or-more boards.

Schmerbach finished with 10 points and Ramos scored eight before both players fouled out in the fourth quarter. Kennedy Tull ended with 11 points and Alexis Elquist scored eight, adding a game-high 14 rebounds.

Libby Mathis had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Beacons, with Krupke scoring 10 – on 4-of-16 shooting.

The Lady Owls close out the 2024 portion of their schedule tomorrow afternoon, traveling to Corban for a 3 p.m. match-up – live on 104.3 & 960 Sports.
