BELLEVUE, Wash. – Oregon Tech closed out the men's soccer regular-season dropping a 4-1 decision to Northwest University at Bellevue College.
The match was moved from the Eagles (6-7-5, 4-4-5 CCC) on-campus field to the turf facility at the junior college due to unplayable conditions.
Despite the Owls (8-7-3, 5-5-3) putting 16 shots on frame, NU keeper Michael Kot recorded 15 saves – the most by a Cascade Conference net-minder this season.
The Eagles struck just 90 seconds into the match, as Marcus Swanson played a ball behind the Tech defense to Joao Fonseca – with Fonseca converting the 1-on-1 chance for the 1-0 lead.
NU capitalized midway through the second half with a pair of goals within a three minute window, as Marcus Ludlow slotted home an unassisted goal, followed by an Eagles corner kick that turned into an own goal as a failed Tech clearance ended up in the net.
OIT averted the shutout in the final minute, as
Andrew Pasang tied the career all-time assists mark with a pass to
Merrick Tambio, who scored his third goal of the year. NU closed the scoring with two seconds remaining following a handball in the area, with Liam Raney converting the penalty kick.
The Owls end the regular-season in a tie for seventh-place in the CCC table with Multnomah – earning the No. 7 seed in the CCC Championships thanks to a head-to-head win over the Lions. Tech will face rival Southern Oregon in a quarterfinal match-up next Sunday at Lithia & Driveway Fields in Medford – with start time set for 4 p.m.
