Seniors Lift Lady Owls into CCC Semifinals with 2-1 Win

MEDFORD, Ore. – Seniors Shalynai Naputi and Kiana Jacobson kept their collegiate careers alive, scoring second half goals in a six-minute span of the second half, lifting Oregon Tech to a 2-1 victory over Northwest University in the quarterfinals of the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, at Lithia & Driveway Field.

The Lady Owls (14-4-1) extended their late season win streak to six, defeating the Eagles for the second time in eight days.

Despite a 12-4 edge in shots in the opening half, Tech was unable find the net – with NU (5-4-5) striking five minutes into the match on a Rachel Snow goal off a combination from Kennedy Leach and McKenna Ramoso.

Tech had two quality chances to pull even – as headers from Jacobson and Carly Moss missed just wide of the target.

Things changed early in the second half, as Moss made a long run down the right side, playing a cross to the middle of the box, with Naputi buried the sitter into the right corner of the net.

Moments later, Kayla Ness worked the ball into the right corner of the area and was fouled, setting up Jacobson, who hammered home the penalty – her team-leading tenth goal of the season.

OIT's defense did the rest – not allowing a shot attempt over the final 30 minutes – to punch their ticket to the semifinals. The Owls will meet No. 3-seed Eastern Oregon on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Wheeler Field in Medford.
