Lady Owls Punch Ticket to NAIA Championships

MEDFORD, Ore. – Brianna Lewis headed a rebound off a Jaylee Curran free kick into the left corner of the net late in overtime, as Oregon Tech punched their ticket to the NAIA National Championships with a 1-0 victory over Eastern Oregon in the Cascade Conference Tournament semifinals at Lithia & Driveway Fields.

Tech (15-4-1) extended their win streak to seven and will meet No. 10-ranked College of Idaho on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the tournament title game.

"What a great effort by our team," said OIT head coach Tom Moore. "We did a nice job limiting their chances following halftime and were rewarded late with a great finish by Brianna."

Following a foul 40-yards from goal, Curran lifted a free kick to the middle of the box that was punched out by Mountaineers (10-4-3) keeper Madeline Barker – right to the waiting Lewis, who headed the rebound into the left corner of the net.

After a first half that was played between the 18's, Tech had the run of play for the majority of the second half and overtime. The Owls nearly scored in the 78th minute, as a Caitlyn Price 20-yard drive missed just left of the post, while the Mounties had their best chance off an 85th-minute set piece, with Crace Schafer's touch missing just right.

OIT finished with an 11-9 edge in total shots, with keeper Sydni Nakamura making two saves in the clean sheet – tying the all-time program record with her 21st career shutout.

The win secures the Lady Owls their fourth trip to the NAIA Championships – and first since the 2021 season.
