PUYALLUP, Wash. – Oregon Tech secured no worse than the No. 3 seed in the Cascade Conference Women's Soccer Championships, as the Lady Owls won their fourth-straight, dominating Evergreen State, 2-0, at the Washington Premier FC Complex.
OIT (12-4-1, 8-3 CCC) can clinch the No. 2 seed in the upcoming tournament with a win in tomorrow's season finale at Northwest University or an Eastern Oregon loss or draw in one of their final two matches.
The Lady Owls used a 22-3 edge in total shots and an 11-1 edge in corner kicks – dominating the run of play on the soggy afternoon.
Tech opened the scoring in the 21st-minute, as
Kayla Ness pounced on a loose ball in the middle of the box, flicking a low shot into the right corner of the net – her fourth game-winning goal of the season.
Though the Geoducks (3-9-3, 2-7-2) did not have a dangerous opportunity in the second half, the Lady Owls scored a key insurance goal with five minutes left in the contest – as
Kaelin Ness ran onto a
Chloe Cook through-ball and converted a shot from the top of the box.
Sydni Nakamura made two saves for her eighth shutout of the season – moving to No. 2 on the OIT all-time shutout list with the 19th clean sheet of her career.
