KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Kapri McMillan scored on a breakaway midway through the first half and the Eastern Oregon defense stymied Oregon Tech, as the Mountaineers topped the Lady Owls, 1-0.
OIT (8-3-1, 4-2 CCC) finished the day with a 12-4 edge in shots – including all nine shots in the second half, but Madeliene Barker made six saves to help EOU earn a clean sheet.
Despite Tech controlling the majority of the first half possession, Eastern (4-3-2, 3-2) made one big play stand up. Defender Megan Gustafson played a long ball up the middle of the field behind the Owls defense, with McMillan running on the ball – converting a 1-on-1 chance to the middle of the net.
The Owls had chances –
Kiana Jacobson just missing a first half back post header off a corner, with Barker making a stop of an angled 12-yard shot in the second half. Both
Tiffany Humpherys and
Caneel Corpuz having headers just miss the mark.
OIT hits the road next Sunday for a match-up in Billings against Rocky Mountain.
