OPPONENT PREVIEW – COLLEGE OF IDAHO: Friday afternoon, defending CCC champ College of Idaho heads to the Basin, with the Coyotes (5-0-2, 3-0 CCC) putting a 16-game CCC win streak on the line. The No. 12-ranked team in the NAIA is coming off 3-straight NAIA Tournament appearances, outscoring opponents 24-4 in 2024 – leading the CCC in goals against average (0.57). CCC Player of the Year Eden Makaafi (4 goals) and Newcomer of the Year Alexis Eiguren (7 goals, 2 assists) are back, as are All-CCC midfielders Larissa Wegner (3 goals, 1 assist) and Natasja Davis (4 goals, 2 assists), Keeper Alivia Brenchley (0.80 GAA) anchors the back third along with All-CCC defender Isabel DeVille. C of I holds a 15-9-5 series lead on Tech, including a 5-4-3 record in Klamath, but the Lady Owls have posted a 2-1-1 mark in the last four home tilts.

OPPONENT PREVIEW – EASTERN OREGON: The weekend closes against in-state rival Eastern Oregon, as the Mountaineers (2-3-2, 1-2) are trying to rebound after dropping 3-of-4 (including two 1-0 setbacks). EOU is defensive-minded, allowing just eight goals through seven matches (including draws against Division II foes Westminster and Northwest Nazarene), but the Mounties have posted just six total goals and taken just 61 shot attempts. All-CCC defender Darby McDevitt (1 assist) leads the squad, with Ashley Smith (2 goals, 2 assists) and Gracie Hoover (1 goal, 1 assist) the top offensive options. Keepers Hannah Krantz (0.69 GAA) and Rylee Schei (1.15 GAA) have split time. The two teams have split the previous 26 meetings (10-10-6), with the 2-2 draw between the teams in last season's CCC Tournament the third-straight tie in the series.

TECH JUST OUTSIDE THE TOP-25: The early season success has propelled the Lady Owls back on the national scene, as Tech received 35 points in the latest NAIA Top-25 Poll – the fourth team listed in the "others receiving votes" category – with the team ranked No. 12 in this week's NAIA RPI Ranking. OIT last cracked the Top-25 in 2022 – opening the year at No. 4, before dropping out of the poll during the first regular-season tabulation. The next Top-25 poll, along with the first Western ARC Rating.

VS. THE TOP-25: Friday's match with College of Idaho is the second time in 2024 the Lady Owls have played a Top-25 team – having earned a 3-2 win at No. 11-ranked Hope International. It is the 38th all-time contest against a ranked foe, with OIT a combined 6-26-5 against the high-caliber clubs – however, taking former CCC-power Concordia-Portland out of the mix, Tech is a combined 6-5-5 against Top-25 teams.

STREAKING – PART 1: The Lady Owls ended the month of September on a 7-match win streak – including a perfect 4-0 mark in Cascade Conference play. It is the fifth win streak of 7-or-more games by an OIT team – as the 2009 team won 7-in-a-row, the 2019 and 2020 teams posted 8-game win streak, while the 2021 team set a school record with 13-straight wins.

STREAKING – PART 2: The 1-0 win at Corban and 2-0 win at Bushnell extended Tech's shutout streak to five – marking the fourth time an OIT team has recorded 5-or-more shutouts in a row (posting 5-straight shutouts in 2018 and 2019, rattling off 12-straight clean sheets between the 2020 and 2021 seasons). The Owls have not surrendered a goal in 482 minutes – two minutes shy of the No. 2 mark – established by both the 2018 and 2019 teams, with the all-time record sitting at 1,204 minutes between goals allowed. The defense locked the Valley teams down in the weekend wins, allowing just seven total shots in the two matches.

JACOBSON NETS SCORING RECORD: Tech needed one goal to earn a win Friday at Corban – with Kiana Jacobson calmly converting a penalty kick early in the second half to provide the winning margin. It marked the sixth-straight game the senior had scored a goal, establishing a new OIT record (surpassing the 5-straight games with a goal by Mehana Ortiz in 2021). Jacobson leads the squad with seven goals, ranking among the Top-5 in the CCC in goals and points.

NESS MAKES MOST OF OPPORTUNITIES: Through 10 games, midfielder Kayla Ness has taken just 10 shots – but has converted three into goals at the most opportune times. The senior opened the scoring against Arizona Christian and Multnomah, following suit against Bushnell – with all three also serving as game-winning goals.

SUCCESS ON THE TURF: During the 25 seasons of women's soccer at OIT, the Lady Owls are 110-58-18 in matches played in Klamath Falls. Since the school installed turf at the on-campus venue in 2017, Tech has been nearly unbeatable, recording a 41-4-7 mark (.856 win percentage), including a 3-0 record in 2024 – riding a 7-match unbeaten streak.

AROUND THE LEAGUE: OIT and C of I sit atop the CCC table with unblemished records, just ahead of Southern Oregon (3-1) and Carroll (2-0-1) – while Warner Pacific and Bushnell are searching for their first league point. While Rocky Mountain has the weekend off, Northwest and Evergreen State head to Portland for matches at Warner Pacific and Multnomah, Bushnell and Corban travel to Montana to meet Carroll and Providence, with Eastern and C of I headed to OIT and SOU.

LEAGUE LEADERS: As a team, the Lady Owls lead the CCC in shutouts (6), ranking No. 2 in goals against average (0.60) and assists per game (2.10), No. 3 in shots per game (17.60), No. 5 in goals per game (2.40) and corner kicks per game (4.00), ranking No. 6 in fouls per game (6.40). Individually, Brianna Lewis leads the CCC in assists (7) and assists per game (0.70), ranking No. 2 in shots (32) and No. 4 in shots per game (3.2). Kiana Jacobson is tied with teammate Kayla Ness in game-winning goals (3), while ranking No. 2 in goals (7) and points (16) and No. 5 in goals per game (0.70). Sydni Nakamura tops the league in shutouts (5) and goals against average (0.62), ranking No. 6 in save percentage (.818), with Sydney Soskis No. 3 in assists (4) and No. 5 in assists per game (0.40).

RECORD BOOK: Four players rank within the Top-20 of the OIT career record book. Keeper Sydni Nakamura is No. 3 all-time in shutouts (16), ranking No. 6 in goalie wins (21) and in saves (132), midfielder Brianna Lewis is No. 8 in assists (11), forward Kiah Wetzell sits at No. 15 in goals scored (14) and No. 16 in total points (34), while midfielder Kiana Jacobson ranks No. 18 in goals scored (12).

LOOKING AHEAD: OIT will hit the road next Sunday, flying to Billings, Mont., for a key Cascade Conference match-up at Rocky Mountain, before returning to Klamath, closing out October with 3-straight home matches.
