Tech Drops Match-Up at Southern Oregon

ASHLAND, Ore. – Lucy Boyd posted her second double-double of the season, but it wasn't enough for Oregon Tech, as No. 5-ranked Southern Oregon topped the Lady Owls, 27-25, 25-18, 25-16 in Lithia Motors Pavilion.

The Raiders (15-1, 9-1 CCC) won for the sixth-straight time, while snapping Tech's 3-game streak.

OIT used a first set flurry to extend the period – as an SOU attack error, followed by kills from Savanna Sterck and Kate Hicks pulled the Lady Owls (10-8, 3-7) even at 24-24. Following two side outs, the hosts closed out the set win with kills from Megan Perry and Marin Mackey.

Southern used big runs in the next to sets to complete the victory – getting three Hannah Stadstad kills in 12-5 run in Set 2 to take a 20-12 lead – while in Set 3, the Raiders erased a 6-3 OIT lead with a 9-3 run and added 5-straight points late to close the match.

Despite the loss, OIT got solid outings at the net, as Molly Grace posted nine kills and seven digs, Sterck had eight kills, Willow Jacobson recorded seven kills and three blocks, with Hicks adding six kills.

Perry led SOU with 14 kills on 22 swings, with Stadstad finishing with 12 kills – as the Raiders hit at a .351 clip.

Both teams hit the road to Portland this weekend, with Tech meeting Multnomah on Friday and Warner Pacific on Saturday.
