KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Tiana Barrett had a team-high eight kills and led a dominant Oregon Tech effort at the net with a career-high 10 blocks, as the Lady Owls completed a season sweep of Walla Walla, topping the Wolves, 25-15, 25-22, 25-18 at Danny Miles Court.
OIT (13-10, 6-9 CCC) pulled even with the Wolves in the league standings, using 16 team blocks in the three-set match, adding six aces.
Kaley Whalen recorded three consecutive service aces in Set 1, helping Tech build a 9-4 advantage. WWU (7-10, 6-9) rallied behind the Cascade Conference's leading hitter, Sahara Browning, cutting the deficit to 16-14, before the Owls scored nine of the final 10 points.
WWU had command of Set 2, taking a 20-16 lead on a Femke Eising kill, but three blocks and a kill by Barrett fueled a 7-0 run by the Owls to steal the victory. The momentum carried into Set 3, as four consecutive attack errors by the Wolves helped OIT turn a 12-12 tie into an 18-12 lead – with the Owls closing out the match with a block from
Aleksen Thayer and
Willow Jacobson.
Molly Grace had seven kills, Jacobson added five kills and six blocks, with Thayer posting five blocks. Setter
Lucy Boyd had 26 assists and five blocks, with Whalen logging 16 digs.
Browning led WWU with 16 kills and 11 digs, with Idalis Bedore leading all players with 19 digs.
The Owls close out the homestand tomorrow afternoon, hosting Lewis-Clark State at 4 p.m.
