Lady Owls Pick Up Key Road Win at College of Idaho

CALDWELL, Idaho – Big nights from Gabbie Gascon and Olivia Sprague helped Oregon Tech win their third in a row, completing a season sweep of College of Idaho with a 71-53 victory inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

Gascon scored 21 points with seven rebounds and five assists, with Sprague leading all scorers with 26 points – as Tech (17-1, 11-1 CCC) kept pace with Lewis-Clark State atop the Cascade Conference standings. The two guards combined to make 7-of-10 3-pointers, as the Lady Owls finished the night 8-of-14 from long range.

OIT opened the game on a 10-0, including 3's from Sprague and Alexis Elquist, along with two jumpers from Kaitlyn Wright. The Yotes (5-14, 5-8) battled back, cutting the margin to 25-23 at the break on baskets from McKenzie Hirsch and Brooke Beresford.

Gascon took over in the third quarter, scoring 15 points – including consecutive transition 3-pointers that pushed the lead to 47-33. C of I cut the deficit to 58-51, before OIT closed the game on a 13-2 run – started by a Gascon lay-up, with Sprague converting a huge 3-point play and sealing the game with four late free throws.

Tech finished the night 42-percent from the floor – but made 53-percent of their shots after halftime. The Lady Owls scored 21 points off 17 C of I turnovers, while holding the hosts to 29-percent shooting on the evening.

Kayley Elliott scored seven and Kendall Fealey added six points for Tech, while Kylie Waltermeyer led the Yotes with 13 points.
