CALDWELL, Idaho – Third-ranked College of Idaho blitzed the nets from 3-point range, connecting on 16-of-31 attempts from deep, as the Coyotes rolled to an 83-59 victory over Oregon Tech inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The No. 24-ranked Hustlin' Owls (14-4, 9-3 CCC) were unable to stop Drew Wyman, as the junior All-American made 7-of-8 3-point chances, part of a 23-point night, as C of I made big shot after big shot.
OIT took an early 4-3 lead on a
Keegan Shivers floater in the opening minutes, but C of I (17-2, 12-1) got consecutive 3's from Wyman, Samaje Morgan and Johnny Radford in an 18-2 run that gave the hosts a 24-8 edge.
A Shiver 3-pointer got Tech within 27-16, but Alex Germer drained the first of his three 3-pointers to start a 7-point C of I rally, as the Yotes built a 47-30 halftime lead.
The Hustlin' Owls cut the margin to 50-37 on a Shiver triple early in the second half and had three chances to slice into the deficit further – but were turned away by the Coyote defense. Germer started a rally with a trey and Wyman hit his final 3-ball of the night to cap 14-4 run that put the game out of reach.
Tech held a 43-33 edge on the glass against the top rebound team in the CCC – including 17 offensive rebounds – but were plagued by 15 turnovers. OIT finished the night 22-of-60 from the floor, making just 4-of-17 3-point chances against the top defensive unit in the league.
Kam Osborn scored 10 of his game-high 12 points in the second half,
Blake Jensen added 11 points, Shivers had eight points and 11 rebounds, with
Garrett Osborne scoring a career-high seven.
Radford scored 14 in the win for C of I – their 12th in a row.
