Lady Owls Stop Corban, Improve to 16-1 For First Time

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Olivia Sprague scored 22 points and Gabbie Gascon added 19, helping Oregon Tech improve to 16-1 for the first time in program history with a wire-to-wire 88-69 victory over Corban University at Danny Miles Court.

The Lady Owls (16-1, 10-1 CCC) kept pace with Lewis-Clark State atop the league standings by hitting 52-percent of their field goals and limiting the visitors to 3-of-27 shooting from 3-point range.

Tech scored the first nine points of the contest, as Gascon converted a lay-up and a long triple, before the Warriors (5-12, 4-7) cut the deficit to 13-10 on an Autumn Agnew runner.

From there – it was all OIT. Elli Kent converted back-to-back buckets in an 8-0 run to push the lead to double-digits, with Sprague canning a triple and adding two free throws that gave the Owls a 39-18 lead. The hosts put the game away in the third quarter, rattling off 14-straight points to end the period, including 3s from both Gascon and Kennedy Tull, extending the lead to 73-45.

Sprague recorded her seventh game with 20-or-more points this season, with Gascon making 6-of-7 field goal attempts. Kent had eight points, five rebounds and three assists and Jozie Ramos added six points and a team-high seven boards.  The Lady Owls made 7-of-14 3-point attempts and converted a stellar 21-of-23 free throw tries.

Madie Godwin scored 18 of her 20 points in the second half for the Warriors, with Agnew scoring 15.

OIT hits the road for the next four games, beginning Friday night with a 5:30 p.m. (MST) match-up at College of Idaho.
