Elliott Leads Lady Owls Past Bushnell, 78-45

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Kayley Elliott scored a career-high 17 points, including back-to-back 3-pointers in a key second quarter run, as Oregon Tech rolled to a 78-45 win over Bushnell University at Danny Miles Court.

Wearing pink uniforms for breast cancer awareness, the No. 20-ranked Lady Owls (15-1, 9-1 CCC) held the visitors without a made field goal for a 13-minute stretch in pulling even with Lewis-Clark State atop the Cascade Conference standings.

Locked in a 21-21 second quarter stalemate, Tech broke away with an 11-1 run – fueled by Elliott. The senior opened the flurry with a 15-foot jumper and following a Tatum Schmerbach triple, canned consecutive 3s to push the OIT lead to 32-22.

Leading 37-27 at the break, the Lady Owls broke the game wide open in the third quarter, as a pair of Kennedy Tull lay-ups were sandwiched between a Schmerbach trey, part of an 8-0 run that helped the host extend the margin beyond 20 points.

The OIT defense did the rest – limiting the Beacons (9-7, 5-5) without a made field goal for nearly 13 minutes between the end of the second quarter and the first two minutes of the fourth quarter. BU missed 11-straight shot attempts before Aspen Slifka hit a runner to end the drought – but Tech had built a 60-33 lead.

The Lady Owls finished the night with a 59-28 edge on the glass and held the Beacons to 25-percent shooting in the contest.

Schmerbach scored 13 points with six rebounds and Olivia Sprague chipped in with 11 points and eight boards as Tech improved to 6-0 at home this season.

Ayden Krupke had 12 points, Mandy Sisul scored 10 and Libby Mathis pulled down 12 rebounds for the Beacons, who converted just 19-of-37 free throw chances.

OIT returns to action tomorrow afternoon, hosting Corban at 3 p.m.
