LA GRANDE, Ore. – Playing in a driving rainstorm, an early
Kiana Jacobson goal nearly stood up, but a goal in the final 90 seconds allowed Eastern Oregon to play Oregon Tech to a 1-1 draw at Community Stadium.
The goal by the Lady Owls (2-3-3, 1-2-2 CCC) marked the first first half goal allowed by EOU, the fourth of the season by Jacobson. The transfer launched a 35-yard shot that eluded Mounties keeper Rylee Schei.
The OIT defense stymied the Eastern (4-0-4, 2-0-2) offense for the first 88 minutes, as keeper
Sydni Nakamura made five key saves.
Unfortunately for the visitors, the Mounties kept their unbeaten streak alive with heroics. Off a throw in, Emmy Williams played Karina DeYoung – with DeYoung touching a thru-ball behind the Owls defense to the running Payton Jacaway, slotting home the equalizer with 73 seconds remaining.
EOU finished the night with an 18-11 edge in total shots and recorded the two corner kicks in the match.
The Lady Owls return to action tomorrow night, traveling to No. 17-ranked College of Idaho for an 8 p.m. (MDT) match-up.
