Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Early Goal Sinks Lady Owls in 1-0 Loss to Bushnell

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Despite controlling the run of play for the majority of the match, Oregon Tech fell victim to an early goal and the Bushnell University defense stood strong, as the Beacons earned a 1-0 victory at the OIT Soccer Field.

A wind-aided 35-yard shot from Lexis Canyete-Asato snuck under the cross bar – just out of the reach of OIT (2-3-1, 1-2 CCC) keeper Sydni Nakamura – converting the only attempt on frame by the visitors.

Tech had their chances. Including a pair inside the opening 10 minutes – as Beacons (2-3, 1-1) keeper Lexi Bates stopped a low-liner from Kiana Jacobson and a Shalynai Naputi 20-yard bender missed just wide of the right post.

The Lady Owls continued their pressure early in the second half, as a cross from Kaylie Hashizaki found an unmarked Makahl Chambers at the near post, but her one-timer missed just wide. Tech nearly scored in the 73rd minute, as Brianna Lewis hit a shot that was blocked by Bates, with a follow by Lewis cleared off the goal line by BU's Destiny Navarrette.

OIT finished the afternoon with an 18-3 edge in total shots, along with all three corner kicks in the match – but Bates made five saves in BU's first clean sheet of the season.

The Owls return to action tomorrow afternoon, hosting Corban at 2:30 p.m.
