PORTLAND, Ore. –
Kiana Jacobson became the 18th Oregon Tech women's soccer play to record a hat trick, as the transfer led the Lady Owls to a key 3-0 victory at Warner Pacific.
OIT (2-2-1, 1-1 CCC) held a 15-11 edge in total shots and added three corner kick chances on the day, with Jacobson's heroics helping the Lady Owls earn a road split in the Rose City.
"We got the response we needed," said OIT head coach
Tom Moore. "The ladies were fantastic and all credit to them for their resilience after yesterday's match. I am very happy for Kiana getting her first collegiate hat trick and it was very well deserved. We were disciplined in the way we played and the result spoke for itself."
Tech opened the scoring in the 17th minute, as
Shalynai Naputi played a ball near the area to Jacobsen, who made a nifty move and drove home the eventual game-winner. Two minutes later, Jacobson got a thru-ball from
Brianna Lewis and slotted home a counter.
Jacobson capped her hat trick in the 57th minute, converting a penalty kick after a foul in the box.
Sydni Nakamura completed a clean sheet, making six saves in her third shutout of 2023.
OIT returns to action next weekend, making their home debut against Bushnell and Corban.
