PORTLAND, Ore. –
Brock Rideout converted a penalty kick early in the second half for the lone goal of the match, as Oregon Tech earned their first-ever victory at Warner Pacific, a key 1-0 decision at Eastside Timbers Soccer Complex.
The win for the Hustlin' Owls (4-1-1, 2-0 CCC) avenged a loss to WPU in last season's Cascade Conference Tournament title game – earning their first win on the Knights home pitch in 11 tries.
"The boys put in a full shift this weekend," said OIT head coach
Sean McManamon. "Each player put their body on the line to battle and scrap for the win. I am very proud of the work and happy with a pair of clean sheets the last two days."
A handball in the box in the 49th minute set the table for Rideout, who scored his 21st career goal – equaling the all-time OIT goals scoring record – with the conversion from the penalty spot.
Ryan Solis and the Owls defense did the rest – overcoming 22 shots and nine corner kicks from the Knights (3-3, 0-2). Solis made the biggest play in the first half, stopping a Hunter Leach penalty kick in the 38th minute after a foul in the box.
Tech returns home next weekend for matches against Bushnell and Corban.
