KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Andrew Pasang capped an outstanding week with a hat track and an assist, helping Oregon Tech remain in the Cascade Conference title picture with a 5-1 victory over Walla Walla University.
The Hustlin' Owls (7-3-2, 5-2-1 CCC) sit one game off the pace in the league table, meeting three of the top four teams in the next two weeks – including a grueling road trip next weekend in Montana.
OIT struck in the seventh minute, as Pasang played a corner kick to an unmarked
Brock Rideout, who touched home his fourth goal of the season.
Moments later, a hand ball in the box allowed Pasang to convert from the penalty spot to double the Tech lead.
The visiting Wolves (0-8, 0-7) made it interesting – cutting the margin to 2-1 in the 32nd minute. A free kick was cleared by the Tech defense, but Israel Perez took a long shot from outside the area that cleared traffic in front of the net and found the right corner of the goal.
The Owls put the game away in the second half – as
Kevin Rodriguez flicked home a
Dylan Nakagawa corner early in the period – before Pasang did the rest. The junior made a long run to score in the 70th minute, while five minutes later, jumped on a failed clearance by WWU and slotted home a low drive to the right corner of the net.
OIT dominated the run of play, recording a 31-3 edge in total shots and had 12 total corner kicks. Wolves keeper Diego Molina made seven saves – many at point-blank range – to keep his team close.
Tech heads to league-leading Carroll College on Friday afternoon for a key 2 p.m. (MDT) matchup in Helena.
